About Gregory Cox Jr
As a lifelong resident of Mason County, I am deeply committed to the safety, well-being, and growth of our community. With a strong foundation in law enforcement—rooted in my family’s tradition of service—I have dedicated my career to protecting and serving the people of this county.
My career began in 2016 as a part-time Correctional Officer with the Mason County Sheriff's Department. In 2017, I transitioned to a full-time Deputy and have served with distinction ever since. I was promoted to Sergeant in November 2023 after having gained valuable experience as a Deputy Sheriff through my service with the Bath Police Department and the Havana Rural Fire Department. I am also a certified Firearms Instructor and Negotiator, preparing me to lead the agency effectively.
As your Sheriff, my mission is to modernize our operations, enhance public safety, and strengthen community relationships. I am committed to:
- Digital Transformation: Bringing the Sheriff's Office into the digital age for greater efficiency and transparency.
- Expanded Coverage: Increasing staffing levels to improve response times and coverage across Mason County.
- Facility Upgrades: Modernizing our jail to ensure the safety and dignity of both inmates and staff.
- Interagency Collaboration: Strengthening partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure comprehensive law enforcement.
- Community Engagement: Fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration between law enforcement and the community we serve.
